Operation Bomb Central

“Earlier this summer over 100 Cincinnati artists and knitters got together to form the underground anonymous art movement called The BombShells. Their Mission: Yarn Bomb the World (or at least Cincinnati for now!). Yarn bombing is the art of crochet and knit graffiti. It started as an international underground guerrilla movement, and is now embraced by crochet and knitting artists of all ages, nationalities and genders. Its practitioners create stunning works of art out of yarn, then “donate” them to public spaces as part of a covert plan for world yarn domination!”

Art Academy of Cincinnati photography students were each paired with a Bombshell, then tasked with documenting the frantic making that preceded Operation Bomb Central. An exhibition of these documents was held to coincide with the big event.
